FormalTicketer is a program that makes it easy for schools to manage the ticket sales for their formals (proms, dances, or whatever else you'd like to call them). While FormalTicketer is not restricted to only managing tickets for formals (you could use it for ticket sales for many other applications) it was designed with formals and schools in mind and as such has fields like 'Year Level' or 'House'. You do not have to use these fields if you are using this for other purposes.
When somebody buys a ticket you usually write their name in a register or something similar. To edit you scribble out things, to delete you scribble some more, to search you scan with your eyes. Not fun or neat. FormalTicketer is a computer based register that allows easy adding, editing, deleting, and searching of tickets sold. One very useful feature is the ability to search for people who have not fully paid in two clicks. Literally.
Selling a ticket is not the last time you see it. When a person enters the formal you usually tick them off the register. FormalTicketer supports a streamlined way to quickly mark people off or register people as they enter the building, and catch people out who cheat the system by copying tickets.
FormalTicketer also provides an easy way to record fundraising efforts (and other formal related income) and formal costs. For example, you may run a cake stall to earn money for the formal and you may pay to rent a place to hold the formal: a Receipt and a Payment. FormalTicketer makes it easy to record this data and calculate your profit or loss.
If your formals are really big and you have long queues to buy tickets you may want to consider connecting more than one computer to a single FormalTicketer database (the file the FormalTicketer saves its data in). This will allow two or more computers to add, edit, and delete tickets at the same time, and still allow each computer to see the other's changes! FormalTicketer supports this.
This is a quick summary of what FormalTicketer can do:
- Saves information about tickets and who bought them
- Search through those tickets using a powerful search engine
- Print out lists of tickets, receipts, payments or even the Simple Accounting report. Anything you can display on the screen can be printed. (A4 only)
- Keep tally of all the formal's receipts (money in) and payments (money out)
- See whether you have made a profit or a loss using the Simple Accounting feature
- Supports special ticket prices for Year 12s and Teachers
- Supports more than one computer working on the same information, for faster ticket throughput
- Allows for full use of the program using only the keyboard (makes things faster)
